Kambadwe Cooperative is one of the first
cooperatives to be incorporated with support from SVTP in the programme’ s
impact area. The Cooperative is fully incorporated and registered with the
Ministry of Trade and Industry-Registrar of Cooperatives and is a recognized
legal entity. Its membership comprises 453 land owners within the Njereza
Irrigation Block in the STVP area. The members have consolidated their land
parcels to form a smallholder owned commercial farm enterprise. Each individual
member is obliged to pay an annual membership, fee currently set at MK5,000
(US$4.50). Members are identified by their national identity cards (IDs) and
the Cooperative provides for members to trade their share through disposal or
trading of their parcel of land (which has been mapped and registered through
the customary land registration process).
The Cooperative is located in area of T/A
Kasisi in Chikwawa District in the Southern Region of the Republic of Malawi.
The project area covers 294 Hectares.
Kambadwe will produce such crops as Soybean,
Groundnuts and Sorghum
